Sponsor / Featured Listing Terms
Version 1.1 · Effective November 1, 2026 · Updated November 1, 2026
- One-time payment: $39 at the founding rate for the first 10 sponsors (across both options), then $99. Nothing auto-renews.
- Featured listing: pinned at the top of the board and on its detail page, with a “Featured” badge, until your deadline. Featured resource: a 60-day spot in Resources and on relevant listing pages.
- We aim to have it live within 1 business day after we receive your link and details, once it passes our check.
- Every paid spot is labelled. We can decline or remove an ad. We don’t guarantee traffic, clicks, entries or sales.
1. Parties
These Sponsor / Featured Listing Terms (“Sponsor Terms”) are an agreement between you, the person or business named at checkout or on the order (the “Sponsor” or “you”), and Continuing Education And Training, LLC, an Arizona limited liability company (mailing address: 500 Westover Drive, Suite 17707, Sanford, NC 27330), which operates CrimeCalls™ (“CrimeCalls™,” “we,” “us” or “our”). You can reach us at [email protected].
Our Terms of Service also apply. If they conflict with these Sponsor Terms about a paid placement, these Sponsor Terms control. If we agree a separate written or e-signed order form with you, the order form controls over both.
2. Accepting these terms (e-signature)
Checking out and paying for a featured listing or featured resource means you accept these Sponsor Terms.
You agree that we can contract with you electronically. Clicking to buy and paying at checkout is your electronic signature and means you accept these terms, just as if you had signed them on paper, under the federal E-SIGN Act (15 U.S.C. § 7001 and following) and Arizona’s Electronic Transactions Act (A.R.S. § 44-7001 and following). Electronic copies of these terms and of your order count as originals. We may send notices to the email address you gave at checkout, and you can send notices to [email protected].
The person who checks out confirms they are at least 18 and authorized to act for the Sponsor.
3. What you are buying
| Featured listing | Featured resource | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it’s for | Contests, awards, anthologies, magazines and publishers with a deadline. | Editors, book coaches, cover designers, promo services and writing tools (no deadline). |
| Placement | Pinned at the top of the CrimeCalls™ board and on the listing’s own detail page, with a “Featured” badge. | A featured spot in our Resources section and on relevant listing pages (for example, a manuscript editor on publisher and novel-contest pages), with your link and a one-line pitch. |
| How long it runs | From go-live until the listing’s deadline. If the call has no fixed deadline (open anytime), it runs for 60 days. If the organizer extends the deadline, we may, but don’t have to, keep it featured until the new deadline. | 60 days from go-live. |
| Price | $39 at the founding rate, which covers the first 10 sponsors across both options combined. After that, $99. Prices are in US dollars, paid once through Stripe at checkout. | |
| Renewal | None. This is a one-time payment and nothing auto-renews. When the run ends, the spot simply ends. If you want another run, you can buy one at the price then shown. | |
These Sponsor Terms cover featured listings and featured resources only. Newsletter sponsorships and deadline reminders are not on sale yet and will have their own terms.
4. Your materials and go-live
- What to send. After payment, email [email protected] with: the listing or business name; the link to its official page or website; the deadline (featured listings only); a one-line pitch; and, optionally, a logo.
- Logo format. A PNG, JPG or SVG file, ideally on a transparent or white background. We display logos small and may resize or crop them to fit. No logo means a text-only card.
- Go-live. We aim to have your spot live within 1 business day after we receive your link and details (and your logo, if you’re sending one) and the listing passes our check. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding US federal holidays. We’ll email you a link to your live spot. If we can’t get it live within 5 business days of receiving your materials, you may cancel for a full refund.
- If we don’t hear from you. If we haven’t received your materials within 30 days of payment, we’ll email a reminder to the address you gave at checkout. If we still don’t hear back within 14 days of that reminder, we may cancel the order and refund you in full.
5. Content approval; our right to refuse or remove
- Same check as every listing. Paying never decides whether a call is listed. A featured call must match its official page and pass the same editorial check as every other listing. We don’t accept pay-to-publish or vanity schemes, or calls we can’t trace to a published source page.
- Approval. We review all copy, links and logos before they go live. We may edit your pitch for length, format, accuracy or house style, and we’ll keep its meaning. We may add tracking parameters (such as UTM tags) to your link.
- Right to refuse or remove. We may decline any ad, or remove one at any time, for any lawful reason, including if it is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, off-topic for crime, mystery and thriller writers, or harmful to our readers or our reputation, or if the call closes or its official page disappears. Refunds in these cases follow section 8.
- Layout changes. We may change the site’s design. If we move your placement, we’ll give it a comparable spot.
6. “Featured” label and honest disclosure
Every paid placement is clearly labelled as paid, for example “Sponsored,” “Featured” or “Featured · paid placement,” and links to you are marked as sponsored links. You may not ask us to hide or remove the label, or to present your ad as our editorial content, a review or an endorsement. A featured spot is not an endorsement by CrimeCalls™.
7. No guarantee of results
We do not guarantee any amount of traffic, impressions, clicks, sign-ups, entries, submissions, leads, sales or income. CrimeCalls™ is a new board, and any statistics we share are estimates. Your payment buys the placement described in section 3, not any result.
8. Refunds and cancellation
There is nothing to cancel on a recurring basis, because nothing renews. For one-time placements:
- Before go-live: you can cancel by emailing [email protected] before your spot goes live, and we’ll refund you in full.
- If we decline your ad: if your listing doesn’t pass our check or we decline your materials before go-live, we’ll refund you in full.
- After go-live: no refunds for a placement that has gone live and runs as described, including if you end it early yourself.
- If we remove it early through no fault of yours (for example, we take the site down or remove the spot for our own reasons), we’ll refund the unused part of the run, prorated by day.
- If we remove it because of you (for example, a breach of section 9 or false or misleading content), no refund is due.
- If the call closes early or the organizer withdraws it, we’ll take the spot down; this counts as the end of the run and no refund is due.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe.
9. Your promises
You promise that:
- you have the right to buy the placement and to give us your materials, and, if you are promoting someone else’s call, you have their permission;
- your materials, including your link, pitch and logo, and the offer they promote, are truthful, not misleading, lawful and backed up by evidence for any factual claims;
- your materials don’t infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights, and contain no malware or deceptive redirects;
- the deadline, fees, prizes and rules you give us match the official page, and you’ll tell us promptly if they change; and
- you comply with all laws that apply to your business and your ad, including consumer-protection and advertising laws and any contest or sweepstakes rules.
10. Logo and materials license
You grant Continuing Education And Training, LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, copy, display, resize and format your name, logo, link, pitch and other materials on crimecalls.com (and in its open data and plain-text files that list live featured spots) for the run of your placement, and to keep copies for our records afterward. You keep ownership of your materials. We keep all rights in CrimeCalls™, the site and its content. Nothing here gives you any right to use the CrimeCalls™ name or logo, except to say truthfully that you are featured on CrimeCalls™ during your run.
11. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Continuing Education And Training, LLC and its members, managers and contractors from any third-party claims, losses, damages, fines and costs (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising from your materials, your contest, publication, products or services, or your breach of these Sponsor Terms.
12. Disclaimer and limit of liability
Apart from the placement described in section 3, the site and the placement are provided “as is,” without other warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything relating to a placement is capped at the fees you paid us for that placement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, entries or goodwill, even if we were told they were possible. If a placement doesn’t run as described, our only obligation is to fix it or give the refund described in section 8.
13. Ending this agreement
This agreement ends when your run ends, or earlier if your placement is cancelled or removed under sections 4, 5 or 8. Sections 7 and 9 through 15 continue after it ends.
14. Governing law and venue
Arizona law governs these terms and any dispute about them or about CrimeCalls™, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any lawsuit must be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, and you and we both agree to those courts’ jurisdiction. Before filing anything, please email us at [email protected] and give us 30 days to try to sort it out informally.
15. General
These Sponsor Terms, our Terms of Service and any order form are the whole agreement about your placement. We may update these Sponsor Terms for future purchases by posting a new version with a new version number and effective date; your placement is governed by the version in effect when you bought. If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term right away is not a waiver. You may not transfer this agreement without our written consent. We are independent of each other, and nothing here creates a partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship. We aren’t responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as hosting or payment-processor outages.
